Microsoft sues Motorola over Xbox 360 licensed components

Microsoft is hot mad at Motorola for overcharging the company on licensing fees for some of the components in the Xbox 360. The interesting thing about the suit is that this came about with the release of the new Xbox 360 Slim model.

As many of you may already know, the Xbox 360 didn’t always have built-in Wi-Fi. The feature was added to the Xbox 360 Slim due to overwhelming complaints from users. It appears that the technology is owned by Motorola and is licensing it Microsoft.

According to Kotaku, Microsoft found out that Motorola has been overcharging the company to license the Wi-Fi tech along with a patented codec technology that allows H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video playback.
